EN ISO 20345 Certified Safety Footwear
The steel toecap is the original safety toe, and it is still the one most of the trade asks for by name. Steel takes a 200 joule impact in a slimmer profile than most composite caps, shrugs off repeated knocks without hidden damage, and usually costs less for the same certified protection. This collection brings together every steel toe style we sell, work boots, safety trainers, dealer boots and riggers, {inStock} styles ready to order.
Steel toecaps are tested to 200 joules of impact and 15 kilonewtons of compression, with each style's rating stated on its product page. Most styles here are rated S1P or S3: both add penetration-resistant midsole protection and antistatic properties, and S3 adds a water-resistant upper and cleated outsole for outdoor ground. The rating is printed on the boot label, so you can match it to what your site or employer specifies.
Many styles pair the steel toecap with a full steel midsole for the classic all-metal build that resists nails and sharp debris underfoot. Others pair steel up front with a flexible composite midsole, keeping the sole lighter and less rigid while the toecap stays steel. Both approaches meet the same penetration-resistance requirement, so the choice comes down to feel and weight rather than protection.
A large share of the collection is built for wet ground, from water-resistant leather uppers to fully waterproof membranes and fur-lined winter rigger boots. If your work keeps you outdoors through UK winters, look for S3 rated styles or browse the dedicated waterproof collection for the styles built to keep water out entirely.
Steel toe protection is not just a heavy boot. Alongside classic site boots and hi-leg riggers, this collection includes lightweight steel toe safety trainers for warehouse and logistics work, slip-on dealer boots for fast on and off, and smart black shoe styles for supervisors and visitors. All 272 styles carry the same certified 200 joule toecap.

Steel or composite is the first question most boot buyers ask, and the honest answer is that both protect to the same certified standard. Steel is denser, so the cap is slimmer and the boot profile stays closer to a normal shoe, and it withstands repeated impacts without concealed cracking. Composite is lighter, warmer in winter and passes metal detectors, which matters in secure workplaces; our metal-free safety boots collection collects those styles. Steel remains the default choice for heavy trades, groundwork and anywhere the price-to-protection ratio matters most, which is why brands like Amblers Safety, Portwest, DeWalt, Caterpillar, Apache and Safety Jogger keep steel at the core of their ranges.
When choosing, start with the rating your site requires. S1P covers indoor and dry work with toe, midsole and antistatic protection, while S3 adds a water-resistant upper and gripped outsole for outdoor ground; our S3 safety boots collection explains the spread in more depth. If you work in the wet, the waterproof safety boots collection collects the fully waterproof styles. Steel toe boots run true to the brand's last, but caps do not flex, so getting length right matters more than with unprotected footwear; our size and fit guide covers sizing across every brand in this collection. Many safety boots also qualify for VAT relief when bought by an individual for work use, applied automatically where eligible.
