About safety wellingtons
A safety wellington combines the full waterproofing of a rubber or polymer boot with the toe protection of a safety boot. The key rating to look for is S5, which on a wellington means a protective toecap, a penetration-resistant midsole, an antistatic build and energy absorption at the heel, on top of the waterproof construction. It is the standard choice for farming, groundworks, food production, fishing and drainage, anywhere feet are in water and at risk from heavy or sharp objects.
Material makes the difference to comfort. Traditional rubber wellingtons are hard-wearing and good value, while Dunlop Purofort and similar polymer linings are lighter and warmer, which tells over a long day in the cold. Look for an SRC slip-resistance marking if you work on washed-down or greasy floors. Wellingtons are sold in whole sizes, so if you are between sizes our size and fit guide explains how to choose.
