Our story

Safety-Shoes.co.uk is run by Charlie Smith and Tom Winfield, directors of Abacus Repro Limited (Company No. 04971774).

Abacus Repro began as a partnership in 1989, supplying reprographics materials and specialist technical drawing equipment for architectural and design work. It moved into black and white and colour copying, specialising in wide-format printing, and was incorporated as Abacus Repro Limited in 2003. As CAD brought printing in-house for designers and builders, the business moved into supplying print media, stationery, facilities management supplies, packaging and office furniture.

When Covid hit, owner Kevin Smith sold the business to his son, Charlie Smith, and long-term employee Tom Winfield. After a difficult period trading office supplies, Charlie and Tom founded Workwear Innovation (workwearinnovation.co.uk), which supplies and decorates branded uniform and workwear and supplies head-to-toe PPE for industries from construction and corporate to healthcare and merchandise. Your Brand. On Stuff. Online PPE (onlineppe.co.uk) sells PPE and workwear online.

Footwear was always the hardest part to get right, so Charlie and Tom launched Safety-Shoes.co.uk in 2026 to focus on safety footwear with a toe cap: great footwear, great advice and great prices, with the same personal service the family business has always aimed for.

Safety-Shoes.co.uk, Workwear Innovation and Online PPE are all run by Abacus Repro Limited from the same unit in Salisbury. We are still a small team, and we still answer the phone ourselves.

Who we serve

What we sell

Where a style is certified to EN ISO 20345 (safety) or EN ISO 20347 (occupational), its product page states which standard and which rating applies. A style with no certification details on its page makes no rating claim. We also sell accessories, including socks, insoles, laces and boot care, which are not certified footwear. The protective features are listed on the product page so you can match the boot to your role and the hazards you face.

Our range covers safety boots, safety trainers, safety shoes, rigger boots, wellingtons, waterproof footwear and occupational footwear, in men's and women's fits, suited to construction, logistics, light industry, utilities, forestry and groundwork.

The brands we work with

We sell safety footwear from brands including Caterpillar, Timberland Pro, DeWalt, Apache, Magnum, Skechers Work, Amblers Safety, Hunter, Portwest, Regatta Professional, Bobcat and Sterling Safetywear, with more added regularly. We are an independent retailer and are not affiliated with or endorsed by the brands we sell. All stock is genuine and bought directly from the brands or through their UK distributors, such as Footsure, Gardiner Bros and Sterling Safetywear. If anything goes wrong, you deal with us, not the brand: we handle every fault and warranty claim for you.
