JCB safety footwear takes its model names from the machines: Hydradig, Backhoe, Fastrac, Trencher, Loadall. The current range is built around non-metallic protection, with a composite toe cap and a puncture-resistant Kevlar fabric midsole in place of steel, which keeps the boots lighter over a long shift. Most of the leather boots add a dual density rubber outsole that is heat resistant (the HRO marking), a detail usually found further up the price ladder.
Choosing is mostly a question of where you work. For warehouse, driving and dry indoor work, the Hydradig boot and Cagelow trainer are light KPU and mesh styles rated S1PS. For general site work, the Backhoe hiker and the Dealer pull-on boot are rated S3L with water-resistant leather. For wet ground and winter, the Fastrac, the Trencher High and the Denstone rigger are whole-boot waterproof with cold insulation.
