Questions people ask

Who makes Base Protection?

Base Protection is an Italian safety footwear maker. The range is known for sports-shoe styling and comfort, and we list over 150 Base styles, most of them low-cut safety shoes, rated from SB to S7S.

What is the Base K- range?

The K- styles, such as the K-Step, K-Speed, K-Move, K-Start, K-Road and K-Energy, are a family of Base safety shoes and boots. The ones we list are rated from S1P to S3S, and most carry the HRO mark for a heat-resistant outsole. Each product page gives the full rating.

Which Base boots have metatarsal protection?

The Meta Top boot, and the I-Meta and I-Meta Mid. Each carries the M marking in its rating, which means tested metatarsal protection over the top of the foot. We also list the Base Metatarsal S3 shoe.

Does Base make waterproof safety shoes?

Yes. Look for S7S in the name: it is a rating that includes a whole-boot water resistance test. Base S7S styles we list include the Be-Dry Low, Be-Powerful, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Nautilus Black and the T-Robust and T-Fort boots.

Do any Base shoes use the BOA dial?

Yes. The Copenhagen, the K-Landing and the T-Robust Mid and Top fasten with a BOA dial in place of laces.

Are Base Protection boots VAT-free?

Qualifying safety boots bought by an individual for their own work use are zero-rated for VAT in the UK. Where a Base Protection boot is eligible we apply it automatically, so the price shown is the price you pay. Safety trainers and shoes carry VAT at 20%, included in the price shown.
