Each safety style states its EN ISO rating
The DeWalt Hammer is the brand's fully non-metallic work boot: a brown full grain nubuck leather upper over a composite toecap and composite midsole, with a TPU toe guard, a padded tongue and collar and a Phylon and rubber outsole. There is no metal anywhere in the boot, which makes it the DeWalt to pick for scanner-controlled sites, airports and secure facilities, and for anyone who wants a lighter boot that does not conduct the cold.
Composite toecap with a composite penetration-resistant midsole underfoot, as specified by DeWalt. Protection at both toe and sole without any metal.
Nothing in the boot sets off a metal detector, and composite protection is lighter than steel and stays warmer in winter.
Brown full grain nubuck leather with a TPU scuff guard over the toe and a comfort insole, available to order now.

Metal-free boots used to mean a compromise on protection or price, and the Hammer is DeWalt's answer to both. The toecap is composite, the midsole is composite, and the rest of the boot is leather, textile and rubber, so it passes through a walk-through scanner without a second look. The composite toecap is tested to the same 200 joule impact and 15 kilonewton compression requirements as a steel one under EN ISO 20345, and the composite midsole covers more of the sole than a steel plate does, because it is not restricted to a single pressed shape. In practice the Hammer feels lighter and less cold than a steel-protected boot of the same size, which is the reason most people move to composite once they have tried it.
The upper is full grain brown nubuck with a padded tongue and collar and a TPU toe guard where site boots wear first. Underneath, DeWalt uses a Phylon and rubber outsole with a comfort insole. The Hammer is a dry-work boot rather than a waterproof one, so for standing water look at the DeWalt Newark waterproof hiker instead. It sits in the wider DeWalt range alongside the composite Lander BOA and the steel-protected Laser, and for other non-metallic styles from the brands we carry see our metal-free safety footwear collection. If you are between sizes, our size and fit guide covers how DeWalt boots fit.
